Aston Villa loan star Enzo Barrenechea believes that he can be on the same level as his national team-mates after his first Argentina call-up.
The Argentine midfielder joined the Villans from Juventus alongside Samuel Illing-Junior as a part of a double deal which saw Douglas Luiz join the Italian giants in the summer, as Villa eased PSR worries.
Unai Emery, though, did not consider him ready for the first-team at Aston Villa and Valencia signed him on a year-long loan deal.
Even though the 22-year-old has not completed the full 90 minutes yet in any matches in La Liga, he has received his maiden national team call-up.
Barrenechea is aware of the high levels of his Argentina team-mates but he feels he is ready to play at that level.
“I see them all as idols”, the Aston Villa loanee told Valencia’s in-house media about his national team-mates.
“I watched most of them when I was little and having the opportunity to share with all of them is crazy.
“I know the level I’m going to find, they are the best. I’m ready, last year I was close to going.”
Barrenechea will look to perform during his time at Mestalla to impress Emery to have a more clear route to Aston Villa’s first team next season.
