Callum O'Hare and Gus Hamer have both been linked with a move away from Sheffield United
Sheffield United players Callum O’Hare and Gus Hamer have both been linked with moves away from Bramall Lane.
It was reported by Teamtalk that O’Hare could depart the Steel City Side this summer, but only if a suitable replacement is identified first.
The Sheffield Star have stated that Legia Warsaw are keen on signing the 27-year-old, with a fee in the region of £2 million murmured.
Hamer has been linked away from the Blades throughout the entire window, but nothing has materialised as deadline day looms closer.
FourFourTwo recently revealed that Leeds United and PSV Eindhoven are still pursuing a move for the 28-year-old in the form of a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Sky Sports pundit and former Aston Villa midfielder, Lee Hendrie, believes that Sheffield United could be set to lose at least one of the duo in the coming days.
“I didn’t think Callum O'Hare would leave,” stated Hendrie. “I thought he might be the one who would possibly stay.
“But knowing how he plays the game, his work ethic, I think getting back to full fitness after his knee injury a couple of seasons back, there's no surprise that there have been links.
“Gus Hamer has been linked away all summer, as he was all last season, so I do think one of these two will leave the football club. I think there's just been too much noise around the club that Hamer will leave.
“But I have heard a few rumours that clubs are looking at O'Hare as well. They're two fine players in the championship, there's no doubt.”
The 2025/26 Championship campaign has started in nightmare fashion for the Blades, suffering three straight defeats alongside crashing out of the EFL Cup at the hands of Birmingham City.
These woes would be further compounded if both O’Hare and Hamer leave Bramall Lane in the next few days, as it would give the Steel City Side very little time to replace the duo.
This means that Ruben Selles and Co. would be losing a great deal of technical ability and creative prowess that they have already been sorely lacking during the opening stages of the season.
It has been cited that Sheffield United’s boss doesn’t believe that O’Hare suits his system, which offers an explanation as to why he could depart before the window closes.
Time will tell how this saga plays out, but it could have major consequences for how successful the Blades’ season ends up being.
