Thorup has revealed that he wants Norwich supporters to show Kamara respect this afternoon.

Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup has admitted that he wants his side's fans to show Abu Kamara respect on his return to Carrow Road with Hull City.

He made this request when speaking to the Pink Un, with the Dane not keen to see his former player receive a hostile reception at Carrow Road this afternoon.

Kamara looked set to be a real first-team asset in Norfolk this season following an exceptional campaign at Portsmouth, with his goalscoring contributions helping the south-coast side to secure a return to the Championship following a long spell in League One.

His spell at Fratton Park allowed him to generate interest from elsewhere, but he seemed to be part of Thorup's plans, making a substitute appearance on the opening day of the season against Oxford United.

However, the player handed in a transfer request in August and that was a blow to the Canaries, who had already lost the likes of Gabriel Sara and Adam Idah during the summer window.

It was unclear whether Kamara was going to be able to complete a move in time, with the player remaining at Carrow Road at the start of deadline day.

But he just about managed to get a deal over the line to secure a switch to the Tigers, with the 21-year-old making the move to the MKM Stadium.

Thus far, he hasn't been able to get that much game time at his new side, making just one start for the club and being withdrawn at half-time during that match.

However, the player is only in the early stages of his time in East Yorkshire and there's plenty of time for him to establish himself as a regular starter under Tim Walter.

Kamara may not get a warm reception considering he reportedly handed in a transfer request and arguably made a sideways move.

But Thorup is keen for the player to be shown respect, saying: "It's always a little bit tricky when players are returning. First of all, I hope that he will be shown respect.

"I know there was a lot of things going on - also in the media and just around him as a person in his time here at the club. I think it's important that we, as a club, can respect that.

"It is a tricky situation to be in as a football player. That's the first thing I hope for the game.

"I always hope for the best for the players that have been here but I don't hope that he is performing at his best tomorrow. That is just how it is.

"He has been into a start where he was starting the games and then has been on the bench. He maybe needs to find his position in the group and at the club.

"He is a player for the future of Hull, and it will take a bit of time.

"I hope that if he comes on that he is shown respect but not more than respect. Then we are there to win."

Abu Kamara may want to use potentially hostile reception as Hull City motivation

Kamara could attract some boos today.

If he does, and that wouldn't be a surprise, he may be keen to make the most of this hostile environment to prove a point.

If he can get on the pitch and prove his point, that can only benefit Hull, who will want to see him thrive under Walter.

How much of an impact he has today may depend on the amount of game time he gets.

And you feel Walter may give Kamara the opportunity to shine today, with the player likely to be desperate to play a decent chunk of the game.
