Liverpool have announced the signing of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt in a deal that could rise to £79 million.
The agreement includes an initial payment of £69 million, with an additional £10 million in potential bonuses based on performance-related criteria.
Ekitike has been turning heads across Europe and had a standout season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 goals in 33 games during the 2024/25 campaign.
His arrival takes Liverpool’s summer spending past the £250 million mark.
He’s the latest addition under Arne Slot, who’s been busy reshaping the squad. Earlier this summer, Slot smashed the club’s transfer record by bringing in attacking star Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal reportedly worth up to £116 million - the biggest transfer in British football history.
With Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving the club, Liverpool have also strengthened their defence by signing Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen and Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.
