Igor Tudor’s contract details with Juventus proved crucial in his rise above Roberto Mancini as the leading candidate for the role, latest reports claim.
Juventus are set to appoint the Croatian manager as their new head coach following Thiago Motta’s imminent departure, as they hope that the managerial change can help revive the team after their recent struggles and reach a top-four finish in Serie A.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tudor will sign a contract lasting until the end of the current season, with no option for an automatic extension based on Champions League qualification—a condition that Roberto Mancini was reportedly demanding.
Sky Sport Italia adds that Tudor’s three-month deal could include a one-sided clause allowing for a renewal if the Bianconeri qualify for the Champions League. However, this clause could only be triggered at the club’s discretion, permitting the Old Lady to decide whether to extend his tenure based on the team’s performance.
This flexibility from the former Lazio coach played a key role in securing the job, as the short-term arrangement allows Juventus to keep their options open for the summer, a crucial prospect for the club at a moment when they don’t want to make definitive choices for their long-term future.

A recent report also indicated that the Bianconeri may decide to pursue Antonio Conte next summer, as the Napoli manager remains their favourite option.
However, he may not be the Old Lady’s only option for next season, as high-profiles coaches like Stefano Pioli and Gian Piero Gasperini could also become available.
Sky Sport Italia also highlighted Tudor’s positive previous experiences in taking over teams mid-season, an aspect that could’ve further strengthened his credentials for the job.
