Aston Villa travel to France to face Paris Saint Germain for the first time in the Champions League tonight. The English side are looking to reach the semi-final stage for the first time since 1982.
Villa head coach Unai Emery will be looking to haunt the side he managed for two years; he led to PSG to the Ligue Un title in the 2017/18 season.
Marco Asensio is on loan at Aston Villa from the French side and will also be looking to hurt his parent club. The Spaniard has been in impressive form since moving to Birmingham having scored two goals in the previous round against Club Brugge.

Aston Villa put six goals past Club Brugge in a convincing victory to put them through to the quarter-final stage of the competition. They will be hoping to put out a similar performance tonight.
Emery’s side come into this game off two wins against teams looking to break into the Premier League top five. A 3-0 win away at Brighton and a 2-1 home win against Nottingham Forest look to have increased Villa’s confidence going into the tie.
PSG rested much of their team this weekend but that did not stop them securing the Ligue 1 title with a 1-0 win against Angers. Players rested included, Nuno Mendes, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele and Joao Neves.
After beating Liverpool in the last round and having the title settled in Ligue 1, PSG will be fully focused on Europe.
Unai Emery spoke about the club’s history and how important it is for Aston Villa to be competing for the biggest trophies.
“Aston Villa is a historic club in the world and they won the European Cup in 1982. The recognition of Aston Villa is massive. When I arrived here at Aston Villa two and a half years ago I knew this history.
“My challenge in that moment was to be a contender for trophies, to play in Europe again and to play in the Champions League like we are doing now is really amazing.”
