We take a look at how the Blades' attendance at Bramall Lane stacks up with others in the English second tier this weekend.

Sheffield United secured another impressive victory this weekend, winning 2-0 against Luton Town.

The Blades were the heavy favourites coming into this game anyway, with the Hatters struggling for much of the 2024/25 season thus far.

After surrendering a 2-0 lead in midweek to draw 2-2 at home against Oxford United, Rob Edwards' side needed to respond to this setback, but that was never going to be an easy task in South Yorkshire.

Chris Wilder's side, meanwhile, were unbeaten in the league coming into this game and were desperate to secure another three points.

With Sunderland and Leeds United sharing the points on Friday evening, this game was a brilliant chance for the Blades to climb further up the table and this is what they were able to do.

Hesitancy at the back allowed Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to capitalise and fire the ball into the back of the net 12 minutes into the game, giving United a platform to build on.

And he added a second to his tally for the day during the early stages of the second half, which was enough to seal all three points for the Blades.

Having started the season on -2 points due to a deduction, the fact they are now second in the table is very impressive and fans will be delighted with their progress following a very poor 2023/24 campaign.

Speaking of fans, we have compared the attendance at Bramall Lane yesterday to other teams in the Championship. All of these figures come courtesy of BBC Sport.

Bramall Lane has a fairly big capacity - and there were 27,925 fans at the game yesterday.

The vast majority of those were home supporters - and they would have enjoyed an excellent win against a team they have struggled to beat at Bramall Lane in the past couple of years.

Luton fans would have been hopeful of their team taking advantage of their recent away record against United, but they knew it was always going to be an uphill battle, considering they are performing poorly at the moment.

Many of the Blades' supporters, on the other hand, were expecting good things. And they were treated to a great performance by Rak-Sakyi.

It has emerged, via BBC Sport, that the Blades had the third-highest attendance in the second tier this weekend, before Bristol City's home clash against Cardiff City.

Only games at Pride Park and the Coventry Building Society Arena had higher attendances, with many Derby County fans seeing their side secure an important 2-0 victory.

Coventry City's supporters weren't so lucky though, with the Sky Blues losing their game 2-1 against Sheffield Wednesday.

Mark Robins' side have been so inconsistent this term - and their failure to build on an impressive victory in midweek would have frustrated their supporters enormously.

In terms of the lowest attendances in the division, Swansea City v Stoke City attracted just 14,546 fans, and Plymouth Argyle v Blackburn Rovers hosted 16,635 supporters in total.

Some would argue that Swansea v Stoke isn't the most mouth-watering tie in the division at the moment, but the Welsh club will be keen to increase their attendances.
