Despite the Black Cats’ promotion to the Premier League, there has been constant speculation surrounding Bellingham’s future for the past few weeks.

That’s over now, as it was announced that Dortmund had won the race to sign the England youth international in a deal that could exceed £30m, making the midfielder a club-record sale for Sunderland.

With the transfer confirmed, it ends Bellingham’s two-year stay on Wearside after his move from Birmingham City.

Obviously, it turned out to be a hugely successful deal for the player, as he was a key figure in Regis Le Bris’ side as they won promotion to the top-flight.

So, Bellingham will leave with plenty of happy memories, and his service will be appreciated by all connected to Sunderland.

And that was reflected on Instagram, with plenty of responses to Bellingham’s heartfelt message following his exit.

Firstly, brother Jude sent a love heart to the player, along with Bellingham’s teammate Hume and his midfield partner Dan Neil. Elsewhere, Watson and Rigg both commented ‘good luck’ to the teenager ahead of his new adventure in Germany.

Jobe Bellingham will be missed at Sunderland

This goes to show that Bellingham was appreciated in the dressing room at Sunderland, and he will clearly be missed following his transfer.

The 19-year-old played a big role in Sunderland’s promotion, and it’s a real shame for the club that he won’t pull on the red-and-white shirt in the Premier League.

He was always going to be under the spotlight given his name, but Bellingham adapted to life at Sunderland very well, and he has had a good two years with the club, which ended with that great day at Wembley when they beat Sheffield United in dramatic fashion.

But, the appeal of Dortmund is obvious, and Bellingham will now get to test himself on the biggest stage in the Champions League with his new club.
