Kyle Walker could be set for a surprise exit from Manchester City this summer.
It is likely to be a summer of change for the Premier League and European champions, with question marks over the futures of captain İlkay Gündoğan, as well as Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Cole Palmer and João Cancelo.
But The Athletic’s Sam Lee reports on Thursday that Walker could also be on the list of potential departees.
The 33-year-old is said to be unhappy with his playing time this season and was also disappointed to have been left out of the starting line-up for Saturday’s Champions League final, especially after having won his place back towards the end of the campaign.
The England international still has one year left on his contract and will want to play as much as possible next season with Euro 2024 coming up next summer. There are suggestions that a move away from the Premier League to a foreign league could be on the cards.
Lee also reports that there is “little appetite” for Cancelo to return to City this summer after he was loaned out to Bayern Munich at the end of January.
The Bundesliga giants reportedly do not want to trigger the €70m clause to sign the Portuguese full-back permanently, meaning City will either have to sell him at a cut-price or look elsewhere for a buyer.
