Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has called a Chelsea ‘here we go’ transfer deal hours ahead of today’s transfer deadline window.
Today is the day where the first summer transfer window closes after only being open from the start of June. But it’s not closed for long as it reopens again on June the 16th. This is just a chance for clubs to get deals done before the Club World Cup starts.
Chelsea have been busy trying to get deals done and doing various other bits of business in the last 10 days. One new signing, Mamadou Sarr, who was announced yesterday, has predictions over his head to become world class very soon.
They’ve also signed Liam Delap already of course, and Alan Shearer was full of praise for The Blues new young striker yesterday.
Marcus Bettinelli is joining Manchester City from Chelsea, according to Romano who put out the ‘here we go’ confirmed deal post on X last night.
Manchester City wanted a new third choice goalkeeper after Scott Carson left the club this summer and they went calling for Chelsea’s ever reliable third choice, and Bettinelli will join City for their Club World Cup campaign as well now too.
From everything we’ve heard, Bettinelli will be a big miss for Chelsea because of his leadership in training and at games. He’s not made a single competitive appearance for Chelsea since he joined in 2021, but he’s been a reliable motivator and seems to be well loved at the club.
This is why I was surprised to see him leaving. It’s not as if he’s leaving to play more games at City now is it? He’s never going to play there either.
