Paris Saint-Germain created plenty of chances in their 1-0 first-leg loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night at Parc des Princes, but goalkeeper Alisson Becker was the star of the show, keeping PSG off the scoreboard.
The Ligue 1 side controlled the game, outshooting Liverpool 27-2, but couldn’t find the back of the net. PSG thought they had scored when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia curled a shot into the top-left corner, but VAR ruled him offside by the slimmest of margins.
Alisson made four saves in the first half and added five more after the break, frustrating PSG’s attacking efforts. Despite the constant pressure, it was Liverpool who struck the decisive blow.
In the 87th minute, Alisson sent a long ball to Darwin Nunez, who won a duel and set up substitute Harvey Elliott. Elliott calmly finished past Gianluigi Donnarumma, giving Liverpool the advantage heading into the second leg.

Elliott spoke with Amazon Prime Video Sport and he reflected on the performance that Alisson had in Paris last week.
“For me, he’s the world’s best, and I think other people can say that as well,” Elliott said. “I don’t think at this moment in time there’s a keeper out there that could keep us in the game so much than he has.
“And not only this game, there’s been so many other games before where he’s made massive saves and played a massive part, and he played a part in the goal as well for his wonderful long ball.”
This loss is PSG’s first since last November when they fell to Bayern Munich. Luis Enrique and his team must pick themselves up and turn the tie around at Anfield.
