Inter Milan, Leeds and Liverpool are just a few of the soccer clubs this three-time Major League Soccer champion have played for. Hailing from Tallaght, Dublin, Ireland, the former Wolverhampton Wanderer turned 45 on Tuesday this week.

The famous and talented striker joined the MLS and the Los Angeles Galaxy just in time as his first stateside team captured their third-ever championship. They would accomplish the same feat the very next season against the same opponent, the Houston Dynamo.

Robert David Keane, arguably one of the five greatest LA Galaxy players ever, appeared in 125 games across all competitions for the LA Galaxy. During his tenure, he scored 83 times.

Keane took the field during the three titles in a four-year span along with captain Landon Donovan, David Beckham, Robbie Rogers, and Mike Magee.

What set Keane apart from the rest of the LA Galaxy?

Though he only made four appearances for the Los Angeles Galaxy in his first season (2011), Keane was dominant in the other five. He scored at least 10 goals each year for his only soccer club in MLS.

Two of his best seasons came at opportune times for the LA Galaxy. In 2012, Keane scored 22 goals while tallying 10 assists. He followed that up with 21 more scores and a career-high 17 assists two seasons later. Both years saw the Irishman and teammates hoist the MLS Cup up in celebration.

He was not only earned the honor of the LA Galaxy's Most Valuable Player four years in a row (2012-2015), but he was also named to Major League Soccer's Best XI (Best Eleven Players in the league) those same four seasons. Keane became a feared scorer, tenacious competitor and a decorated athlete during his time out in California.

Keane is currently the head coach of the Ferencvárosi Torna Club based in Budapest, Hungary. This is his first season with this club as he was with Maccabi Tel Aviv the past two seasons beforehand.

"Down the line, yes absolutely. [The] LA Galaxy is a team that, as you know, I absolutely love. The people there are great. The country itself I love, my family loved it there. My little lad was born there, Hudson. It’s certainly a place that means a lot to me. I’ve been there for five-and-a-half years. I would. Of course, why not?"Robbie Keane, former LA Galaxy striker

Despite Greg Vanney reaching an extension through 2028 with the six-time MLS Cup champions, Keane has expressed his own interest in being the head coach for the LA Galaxy someday.

But for now, Keane celebrates turning 45 as he will watch the defending champions take on D.C. United on Saturday at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. It's an arena where he made history like so many other stars of the LA Galaxy.
