Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Saturday provided updates on the wellbeing of two of the club’s sidelined stars.

The pair in question? Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong.

Midfield duo Gavi and De Jong are of course yet to take to the pitch this season.

The former has been sidelined since all the way back in late-2023, with engine room partner De Jong also a long-term absentee, his ankle problem having been suffered in April.

Both players, though, have over recent weeks made major strides forward in their recovery efforts.

Speaking to the media in his latest pre-match press conference on Saturday, boss Hansi Flick, in turn, was asked for the latest on the potential returns of Gavi and De Jong alike.

And the German tactician went on to explain:

“They are not in our plans for this weekend. We have 8 players unavailable so we focus on the ones who are here. Frenkie is doing better and we are taking extremely good care of him and Gavi.”
