Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Friday provided an update on the wellbeing of star winger Lamine Yamal.
And, as expected, Flick has confirmed that the 17-year-old will not be available to play his part in the club’s post-international break return to action.
Youngster Lamine was for his part condemned to a spell on the sidelines two weekends ago.
After the attacker was forced to sit out Barcelona’s La Liga defeat at the hands of Real Sociedad, confirmation was forthcoming that he had suffered ‘a grade 1 high right ankle sprain’.
Lamine, in turn, withdrew from international duty with Luis de la Fuente’s Spain squad.
Ensuing reports in the media pointed towards the medical staff in Catalunya’s capital as having been hopeful of the winger being passed fit in time to play at least some part against Celta Vigo this weekend.
Recent days, however, saw such optimism replaced by a pessimistic outlook, as Lamine struggled to recover.
And, as alluded to above, this afternoon, boss Hansi Flick confirmed once and for all that the youngster will not be available to face Celta Vigo on Saturday:
“Lamine will not be available tomorrow. He is very important but we have to adapt. The important thing is that he returns to 100%.”
