Barcelona were of course back in action yesterday evening.

With hopes of keeping alive their treble dream, the Blaugrana made the trip to Spain’s capital, for a Copa del Rey semi-final 2nd leg showdown with the aforementioned Atlético Madrid.

When all was said and done, march on to the competition’s finale is precisely what Barca managed, courtesy of a 1-0 victory on the night, and 5-4 aggregate triumph.

As alluded to above, though, in efforts towards as much, Hansi Flick’s squad were motivated by much more than simply their ongoing silverware pursuit.

As per Sport, the Catalan club’s players sought victory to lift the spirits of a downtrodden teammate, in Raphinha:

‘Hansi told his squad that they had to win to avenge Raphinha. The reason, the Brazilian’s defeat with his national team against Argentina (4-1) in the recent international break. The former Leeds player returned to Spain very affected. In every way.’
