Gotham FC vs North Carolina Courage: How to watch, time, and more of critical game

NJ/NY Gotham FC and the rest of the NWSL are back from the international break. The Bats hopefully are recharged and ready to go after going winless in their first three games. Plus, everyone knows that Juan Carlos Amorós is not going anywhere since the team announced his contract extension last week.

There is some sadness and happiness though regarding the roster. Tierna Davidson is officially out for the season after she tore her ACL against the Houston Dash before the break. Then, fans can celebrate, for Midge Purce is back after she tore her ACL last season. The winger will be available to play for a short period, and likely would come on late in the second half. Her return will be a spark and like a new signing after being out for over a year.

This weekend will be the only home fixture in April, so Gotham FC will want to grab the first win with the fans. To do that, they must beat the North Carolina Courage, who is also winless. The teams both have two draws and a loss and will be hungry for all three points. The NJ/NY side might be without Davidson, but they still have a strong defense that could help limit North Carolina in the attack. If they are to win, then they must find their scoring boots.

So far, Gotham FC has only scored one goal during the season opener draw against Seattle Reign FC. Offensively they have the ability to be successful. The likely issue is that the players are still building chemistry and adjusting to the changes on the team. Plus, Rose Lavelle, who was vital with the offensive effort in 2024, is not back from her injury. Her presence in the midfield is missed. Nonetheless, the Bats must figure out how to win.
