Goalkeeper Jay Gorter to leave Ajax for Mediterranean adventure | OneFootball

Jay Gorter (25) is on his way out at Ajax. The goalkeeper has been allowed to leave on a free transfer and is signing for Pafos FC in Cyprus.

With Gorter surplus to requirements, Ajax waived a transfer fee with Pafos but still negotiated a resale percentage, meaning the club could earn some money from Gorter in the future. His contract with Ajax ran until 2026.

Ajax will have a solid goalkeeping squad this season with Viteszlav Jaros (on loan from Liverpool), Joeri Heerkens (Sparta Prague, almost finalised), and veteran Remko Pasveer. Paul Reverson will play for Jong Ajax this season, while Charlie Setford can also look for another club.

Gorter joined Ajax in 2021, having previously played in the youth team. Since then, he’s primarily been a reserve goalkeeper. In that time, he has managed to make 16 official appearances for the first team.
