Go Ahead Eagles reportedly have FC Dordrecht manager Melvin Boel lined up as their potential Paul Simonis successor. The 38-year-old coach is the intended replacement for Simonis, as he looks increasingly likely to take the reins at VfL Wolfsburg.
Voetbal International suggest that the Boel’s signing would continue in the footsteps of the departing Simonis. Boel arrives as a young, ambitious head coach who stands for well-managed, flowing attacking football.
Boel had a strong season with FC Dordrecht in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, leading his side to a fifth-place finish before they were eliminated in the semi-final of the play-offs by Willem II.
From 2017, Boel previously worked with various Feyenoord youth teams, and has been in the Dordrecht dugout since 2024. A challenging job may await Boel in Deventer, as new technical director Marc van Hintum and Paul Bosvelt work hard to finalise the group of players that will turn out in the Europa League after Kowet’s unexpected KNVB Cup win.
