After the postponement of the game against Bologna, it seems that most newspapers and media outlets are in agreement with AC Milan about the controversy behind it.

Today’s edition of Il Giornale (via MilanNews) speaks about the game in a segment with the headline: ‘Milan, this is not fair. Bologna says no to everything. The postponement is a dangerous precedent’.

The game will not be played because of the efforts of the Mayor of Bologna to get it called off, and at the moment there is no certainty as to when it will be rescheduled to. At present, a midweek in February looks like the best bet.

After a long day of negotiations both at a political and football level, Lega Serie A decided to take note of Thursday’s order by the Mayor – Matteo Lepore – which meant the game could not be held at the Stadio Renato dall’Ara.

Bologna as a club were satisfied with the postponement because they were naturally against playing behind closed doors in their own stadium or elsewhere, so as not to lose the support of its fans and the revenues such a game brings. Half of the proceeds were promised to the families affected by the flood, too.

Milan and the Lega, on the other hand, were in favour of playing anywhere, also to safeguard the regularity of the season. Il Giornale adds: ‘The postponement, as the office led by Andrea Butti has well understood, is a dangerous precedent for the stability of the season because from today it allows a mayor to suspend, with his own ordinance, a Serie A match’.
