Given the importance of buying a new striker, AC Milan are exhausting every avenue possible to ensure they find the right player for the present and the future, who, above all, fits the system of Paulo Fonseca.

For months, it has seemed like Milan were destined to sign Joshua Zirkzee, and this might still be how the window plays out, with the club looking into different options within the deal to lower the cost of purchasing the Dutchman, as we exclusively reported last month.

However, regardless of the options, the fact is that the deal has stalled, and now the Rossoneri must make a decision. Whilst the reasoning for this stalling has been largely due to Kia Joorabchian’s commission demands, there are also suggestions that Paulo Fonseca would prefer a different profile to lead his team.

The profile in mind is similar to Gimenez’s a deadly goalscorer with a more physical build, in a similar sense to Olivier Giroud in that sense, something which Zirkzee does not fulfil.

We know that Gimenez is a concrete target for the club, and meetings have taken place between his entourage and the Diavolo, but his destination is still unknown. However, after Mexico’s elimination from Copa America, the road is now cleared for his future to be decided.

His future is clearly on the Mexican’s mind, and on Saturday morning, he posted a cryptic Instagram story (seen below), which some have speculated to be related to Theo Hernandez, but Milan News states this is a stretch. Perhaps, it could be a hint that he is on the move, no one knows, other than Gimenez.
