Ultimately Richard Hughes' work this summer will only be judged when the transfer window shuts.
Until then, the Liverpool sporting director still has a lot of work to do.

But there is no denying he has already pulled off some excellent deals for the Reds. It would be easy to talk about the exciting new arrivals.
Beating major rivals to the signature of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez. Opting to sign Hugo Ekitike when others went for Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.
It's not just those moves that makes Hughes' summer look impressive so far. It's also the deals he arranged for Liverpool's current players.
The best sporting directors know how to sell and loan at the right time and for the right price.
This summer, Hughes did exactly that. Getting a lot of value for money for the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton.
As well as more senior stars like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
On top of that, he also arranged a number of smart loan deals. The most genius and perhaps the best of the lot so far has been the agreement for Vitezslav Jaros to join Ajax Amsterdam.
Jaros is a very highly rated goalkeeper from Liverpool's academy ranks. Last season in a very small glimmer, he showed that in the first team against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park and then in the League Cup against Brighton at the Amex Arena.
Now he's showing his world-class potential at Ajax where he has reunited with former Liverpool coach Johnny Heitinga, who is now the manager of the Dutch giants.
Heitinga's start hasn't been the greatest at Ajax. But it could be a lot worse. Jaros has played a key role in the first four matches of the season, making a lot of saves, two clean sheets and preventing close 0.84 goals in total.
His 80% save rate is one of the best in the Eredivisie so far and he's already being recognised as one of the best players for Ajax.
Liverpool have an excellent track record with goalkeeping talent. Alisson became the best in the world at Anfield. Over the last two decades, Caoimhin Kelleher, Peter Gulacsi and Kamil Grabara, among others all developed at the club.
Jaros has the potential to surpass all of them and follow in the footsteps of Alisson. He's at the best possible club to do so.
In the last 30 years, Ajax have developed the likes of Edwin van der Saar who won the Champions League multiple times, Marten Stekelenburg who played in a World Cup final, Jasper Cillesesen, who ended up signing for Barcelona and Andre Onana who became one of the most expensive goalkeepers when he joined Manchester United from Inter Milan.
So, in Jaros Hughes has ensured that Liverpool will soon have a world-class talent joining them when his loan deal expires. It was a genius move from the club's sporting director.
