GdS: Origi attracting interest from Turkey – how much Milan would save

Divock Origi has attracted interest in Turkey and could leave AC Milan on a permanent basis this summer, a report claims. If that were to happen, the Rossoneri would save a significant amount on the balance sheet.

Origi arrived on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and with quite high expectations, signing a contract worth €4m net per year. Since then, however, he has scored just two goals and a loan spell at Nottingham Forrest didn’t help revive his career.

Given his high salary, as reported by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are hoping to part ways on a permanent basis this summer. They are willing to accept a low figure and some clubs in Turkey have expressed an interest, with Origi’s go-ahead just needed for the destination.

Since Origi still has two years left on his contract, Milan would save over €10m gross in wages alone if the striker were to leave this summer. They could perhaps also collect a small amount for the transfer, which would result in a capital gain.

In short, Milan are working hard on his departure and the biggest obstacle will probably be convincing the player that he’s no longer good enough for the top five leagues.
