As FC Barcelona were unable to make their advantage count and get a victory against Celta Vigo in their La Liga match last night, one player who has been getting most of the blame is the French defender Jules Kounde.

It was the Frenchman whose mistake led to the first goal scored by Celta Vigo, as he lost the ball in his own box, and Alfonso Gonzalez took full advantage of the situation by putting the ball in the back of the net.

After the game, Kounde took responsibility for his mistakes, as he spoke to the media in the mixed zone. However, he was not the only player who spoke to the media after the game, another player who did so was the midfielder Gavi.

As SPORT has noted, the Spaniard was quite sincere in his comments, and did not shy away from highlighting the mistake committed by his teammate that led to the first goal:

“The first goal was a silly mistake; you have to clear the ball there. But well, it’s football, and you have to learn from this. Playing with one less is tough. We did what we could.”

The 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder also highlighted the red card to Marc Casado as an event that made things difficult for his side:

“We had the game under control, but the red card affected us a lot. They scored on two key plays, and we have to learn from it. We can’t afford to get sent off because this can happen. That’s it, now we move on. It’s not just against Celta; it can happen with any team. If you’re not focused, this is what happens.”

Gavi was happy to have made his return to the starting line-up, but his happiness was quite diluted as Barcelona were unable to get a win: “Happy to start, it’s been a year since the last time. But the important thing today was the three points, and it couldn’t happen.”

Gavi was quite honest as he did not shy away from calling out a teammate for his mistakes. Hopefully, Kounde will take this criticism in a positive manner, and ensure he does not repeat such mistakes in the future.
