Gary Neville urges fans to take Old Trafford regeneration survey | OneFootball

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has urged the club’s fans to take part in a survey to be launched later this week, which it is said will ensure supporters remain at the core of regeneration plans around Old Trafford.

Neville, as part of the Old Trafford task force, will help advise the decision but it is crucial that fans are consulted too.

A fan survey is due to be released by United on Friday. The club says it will cover their current matchday experience and what they want their future experience to include.

This helps ensure the views of the fans are at the heart of plans for the future of Old Trafford and the regeneration of the Trafford Wharfside area.

“Old Trafford has evolved throughout its history and it’s clear we are at a point where it has to change again to ensure that Manchester United has a world-class stadium befitting the world’s greatest club and the world’s greatest fans,” said Neville, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“Old Trafford should be a stadium that the Manchester United fanbase can take pride in, so I urge the fans to complete the survey, and participate in the wider consultation, to help shape the Task Force feasibility work and ultimately inform the club’s final decision on the stadium’s future.”

As well as fans, United will consult local residents.

While moving to a new stadium feels probable at this point, the future of Old Trafford – as it is known – remains unclear.

United considered a project to reduce Old Trafford from 75,000 to 30,000, but the Daily Mail claims this proposal is unlikely to work.

This could mean that United’s 114-year-old home could be bulldozed to the ground if they decide against redeveloping it and instead go with their preferred option of creating a 100,000-seater Wembley of the North.
