The former Manchester United is backing the Reds to bottle it
Gary Neville has explained why Arsenal are still his favourites to win the title despite Liverpool's commanding lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Neville steadfastly stuck by his pre-season title winners prediction until the week before Christmas, when he swapped the Gunners for the table-topping Reds after Arne Slot's side scored six at Tottenham.
However, just a week later, the former Manchester United man has flipped back and dethroned Liverpool as champions-elect as he believes Arsenal will cope better with the run-in.
"Sometimes they go through the pain," Neville explained on Sky Sports of Arsenal. "Liverpool are massive favourites and they're in great form but there is still a long way to go.
"Arsenal have been through the mild last couple of years. They've sort of gone to the wire and sometimes when you win the first time it doesn't happen in the most expected way, things can happen.'
When asked what could derail Liverpool's challenge, Neville added: "Van Dijk. That's the thing that sticks out for me. That [if] Van Dijk got injured it would be a completely different story.
"That six points [behind] that Arsenal can go to in a couple of days time would dwindle away quite quickly [without Van Dijk]. He's such an immense player for [Liverpool]."
