AC Milan took care of business in commanding fashion at San Siro last night as they beat Sassuolo 6-1 in the last 16 of the Coppa Italia.

The game was pretty much put to bed inside 11 first-half minutes as Samuel Chukwueze opened the scoring and then got a second, after Tijjani Reijnders had scored a missile to make it 2-0. Rafael Leao got in on the act to make it 4-0 at half-time.

Davide Calabria and Tammy Abraham each got goals in the second half to turn it into a real rout, and the result is that Milan will play Roma or Sampdoria in the quarter-finals.

As expected, the Italian media have heavily praised Milan for what was an entertaining performance in front of their home fans.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Diavolo hit 6. Stramilan in the Coppa Italia. Super Reijnders, Leao also scores. Sassuolo overwhelmed 6-1 and Fonseca in the quarter-finals.”

Corriere dello Sport: “Milan sweep Sassuolo away: 6-1.”

Tuttosport: “Milan, glory for all: now Gasp. ChukwUeze (brace), Reijnders, Leao, Calabria and Abraham score. Roma or Samp in the quarter-finals. Fonseca: encouraging signs ahead of Friday’s big match.”
