Galatasaray sought to sign Barcelona star during his registration issues in January | OneFootball

The early weeks of January were filled with concern for FC Barcelona as they were dealing with issues regarding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The pair’s initial registration was only valid until December 31, following which their licences were revoked.

Following a legal battle, Barcelona were able to secure a precautionary measure from the Higher Sports Council (CSD) in Spain to re-register Olmo and Victor, with La Liga still battling to nullify the same.

Galatasaray wanted Pau Victor

Now, SPORT has come forward with a report claiming that Turkish giants Galatasaray showed an interest in signing Pau Victor when he was dealing with the registration problems in January.

The Turkish side, managed by Okan Buruk, already had Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen on loan, yet they were still considering an additional offensive reinforcement.

As such, they sought a move for Victor and closely monitored his situation during the days of uncertainty when his registration was still in limbo.

However, their pursuit of the Barcelona youngster did not come to fruition, and they secured the signing of Alvaro Morata, who also joined on loan from AC Milan.

Victor never considered leaving

Pau Victor is a lifelong Barcelona supporter through and through and realised a dream when he joined the club permanently last summer and made his first-team debut.

Even during the most difficult times, when his registration was in jeopardy this year, his preference was to remain with the club. This was despite the possibility of joining Galatasaray.

There were moments when the situation seemed far from clear, and both Victor and Olmo were visibly concerned, a sentiment shared by the entire dressing room and coaching staff. But the forward never considered the idea of a departure.

Victor is very content to be playing for Barcelona’s first team, although it has not been an easy season for the forward with game-time not forthcoming this season.

But the 23-year-old is patiently waiting for his chance and hopes to seize the moment when it arrives.
