Manchester United have reportedly received a new bid for Scott McTominay from Fulham, who appear to have shifted their focus on pursuing the deal for the Scotland international.

Fulham have been linked with McTominay all summer, with multiple reports suggesting United are open to selling a midfielder to raise funds in order to strengthen the position heading into the new season.

Earlier today, the reliable Fabrizio Romano claimed (via CaughtOffside) no bids had been submitted for the 27-year-old, with Fulham prioritising finalising the signing of Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal.

However, it appears things have changed in the last hours, with the Italian journalist now reporting Fulham have made a new bid for McTominay, believed to be “in excess of £20m.”

Romano has gone one step further, revealing that the bid is likely to be rejected by the Red Devils.

United are open to parting ways with their academy product, who has also attracted interest from Galatasaray. However, they are hoping to receive a fee in the region of £30m before opening the exit door.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho-led Fenerbahce are also monitoring the situation but they are unlikely to meet United’s valuation. It was the Portuguese manager who during his time at Old Trafford handed the Scottish midfielder his first-team debut.

He is seen as an important player for Erik ten Hag’s squad and has delivered several crucial goals under the Dutchman during the 2023/24 campaign.

McTominay was also included in the starting lineup for today’s friendly against Real Betis, featuring as the most advanced midfielder in the 4-2-3-1 formation.

However, his contract is set to expire next season. Further, his sale would represent pure profit on the books, providing United a huge boost amid their financial fair play concerns.

It is understood United valued the combative midfielder at £40m last summer and even turned down West Ham United’s £30m offer for him. Now, they have significantly lowered their demand.

With Fulham’s latest bid expected to be turned down, it remains to be seen if the London outfit would consider making another proposal and reaching closer to United’s price-tag.
