Former Sevilla director Monchi does Real Betis a favour with Tottenham Hotspur star | OneFootball

Real Betis are planning significant moves in the transfer market this summer, and one of their reported targets is a familiar face: Giovani Lo Celso. The 28-year-old, currently with Argentina at the Copa America, will almost certainly be leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the coming weeks, and a return to Andalusia is possible.

However, Betis’ chances of re-signing Lo Celso are not too high, given that funds will need to be raised to pursue a deal with Spurs. They could have missed out on him altogether this week, as The Times have reported that Lo Celso was used as part of an offer to sign Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey. Fortunately for Los Verdiblancos, that was rejected.

Ironically, Aston Villa’s sporting director is Monchi, who previously held a similar role at Sevilla. Real Betis could have him to thank if they go on to secure a deal for Lo Celso later this summer. For now, their chances hang in the balance.
