After more than a decade of his service to Real Madrid, Lucas Vazquez is now contemplating the next chapter of his career.

As such, the Spaniard, who rose through the ranks of Los Blancos from the age of 16, is drawing significant interest from clubs across Europe and beyond.

Yet, according to a fresh report from AS, Vazquez is leaning towards a move abroad not for financial reasons, but to avoid the emotional strain of facing the club that shaped him.

Vazquez recently bid farewell to the Santiago Bernabeu after an illustrious career. Despite the end of his Madrid journey, though, he remains calm and unhurried about his next move.

The summer transfer window still has a long way to go, and the veteran is carefully considering his options.

There are plenty of offers

As reported before, offers have already poured in from several countries. Clubs in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Premier League, and even Italian giants Juventus have all expressed interest.

However, Vazquez’s decision won’t be based purely on money or prestige.

Instead, he is seeking a project that offers both footballing ambition and personal stability.

Ideally, he is after a two-to-three-year deal that allows him to enjoy the game in a new environment.

Turning down familiar territory

While several Spanish clubs have shown interest, most notably Espanyol, where he spent the 2014–2015 season, and his hometown club Deportivo La Coruna, Vazquez is unlikely to return to La Liga.

His main reason? He simply doesn’t want to face Real Madrid. As emotional as it may seem, the winger holds such deep respect for the club and the fans that the idea of playing against them does not sit well with him.

He would rather take his talents elsewhere than risk that kind of emotional conflict.

As it stands, nothing is imminent. Vazquez is keeping his options open and continuing to weigh the pros and cons of each offer.
