Former Newcastle United forward Amy Andrews has joined Sheffield United on a free transfer.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blades earlier today.

The 25-year-old joins Sheffield United after leaving former club Newcastle United at the end of her contact. Andrews spent one season on Tyneside in which she scored four goals in 22 outings. Andrews previously played Barclays WSL2 football with Durham.

Andrews is an experienced forward and she will be hoping to offer her knowledge to a Sheffield United side that struggled for goals last season. The South Yorkshire side were the Barclays WSL2’s lowest scorers after finding the back of the net on just 12 occasions.

After joining Sheffield United, Andrews said “I feel buzzing, I’m just so happy to be here. I had some good conversations with Ash [Thompson], he made me feel very valued and that’s how I want to be feeling around this point of my career, so I’m very happy to be here.”

Andrews is Sheffield United’s first signing of the summer transfer window. She joins goalkeeper Sian Rogers in being contracted to The Blades for 2025/2026. The club remain in contract negotations with five members of last season’s squad.
