Former Manchester United midfielder Ethan Galbraith is reportedly on his way to Swansea City this summer.
The Northern Ireland international joined United’s academy in 2017 and made his debut in 2019 against FC Astana in the Europa League.
He struggled for game time at the club and after loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Salford City, he moved to Leyton Orient in 2023.
His career has really taken off since as he played an instrumental role in their run to the League One playoff final last season.
Galbraith has sparked interest this summer with Sheffield United, Swansea City and Huddersfield Town all showing keen interest in signing him.
The BBC now report that it is Swansea who have raced into the lead and now seem set to get their man.
It is stated that, “Swansea City are closing in on the signing of Northern Ireland midfielder Ethan Galbraith after agreeing a deal with Leyton Orient.”
What’s more, the deal is reportedly so advanced that “Galbraith, 24, is travelling to Wales for a medical, with Swansea set to pay a significant fee for his services.”
Wales Online claim that the fee is around £1.6 million and that he has already agreed personal terms with the Swans.
Galbraith is expected to pen a four-year deal at the club and will be the club’s fifth signing of the summer.
The former United man is a versatile player who can also play at fullback but it is thought that he will play most of his football as a midfielder for Swansea.
After finishing 11th last season, the Welsh side will hope to make a push for promotion next season and will hope that Galbraith can play a significant part in it.
He finished last season with a highly impressive six goals and seven assists in League One and has also reclaimed his spot in the Northern Ireland first team.
