Leeds United and Pogon Szczecin confirmed on Wednesday that former Arsenal youth forward Sam Greenwood has completed a permanent transfer between the two clubs.
Pogon Szczecin report that Greenwood has signed a three-year contract with the club, with the option to extend it for a further 12 months. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.
“I’m delighted,” Greenwood said of the move. “I found a beautiful stadium and a beautiful city here. My goal is to be a great addition to the team, to help them, and of course, to win something with them.
“I know the Ekstraklasa is a tough league where anyone can beat anyone. I’ll fight for the team and give my all for the fans.”

Greenwood spent a couple of years with Arsenal’s academy between 2018 and 2020, and he was well regarded during that period. The youngster particularly impressed for the Arsenal u18s, helping them to win the u18 Premier League south in 2018/19 with 10 goals and five assists.
Yet reports suggested the player was a bit homesick, wanting a move back up north. Leeds United swooped and signed him for £1.5m, potentially rising to £3m with add-ons.
Greenwood went on to make 43 appearances for the Leeds u21s and 35 for the first team, many of which were in the Premier League. He also went out on loan spells with Middlesbrough and most recently Preston North End.
The 23-year-old made 45 appearances for Preston, the most he’s made for any senior side, scoring seven goals and assisting three. He even played in the 3-0 League Cup fourth round defeat to Arsenal.
