Former France international and Champions League winner Jérémy Mathieu working in sports shop | OneFootball

Less than 10 years after winning the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona, Jérémy Mathieu (41), who retired from professional football in 2023, is working in sports chain shop Intersport.

Mathieu was spotted working in the aisles of one of the chain’s branches, located between Aix-en-Provence and Marseille in the south of France. The former France international, who featured for the likes of Toulouse FC, Barcelona, Valencia, and Sporting during his playing career, as well as making five caps for the France national team, was spotted by clients who took a photo with the former centre-back. The photo was then uploaded onto social media and has since been verified. L’Équipe report that Mathieu is working and managing an aisle in the Intersport store.

The defender, who played with the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez and won the Champions League back in 2015, is also doing his coaching badges, L’Équipe understands.
