One former Chelsea defender turned pundit believes that he witnessed this current Chelsea side coming of age on Sunday afternoon.
The big quotes came after Chelsea finally secured their qualification to play Champions League football next season on the final day of the Premier League season yesterday.
The Blues had to win this game to secure it, and they managed a 1-0 away win against Nottingham Forest to provide scenes of celebrations amongst the Blues players and staff yesterday evening. And in by doing this, Chelsea also set a brand new record in football!
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was so pleased with making the Champions League that he took the opportunity to swear at all of his critics across the season by telling them all to F off!!
As well as securing Champions League football for next season, Chelsea are also in the final of the Conference League this coming Wednesday night against Real Betis.
They wont be an easy side to beat, but Chelsea have a very good chance of winning a trophy this season as well, something they have not done since 2021.
Jason Cundy speaks passionately on TalkSport.
Former Blues man Jason Cundy reacted to the Nottingham Forest win yesterday and believes Chelsea came of age.
“I thought our second-half performance was a team performance I didn’t think I would see. A maturity – sitting in, changed the shape, change the personnel. Finished fourth. I think we came of age today.”
Certainly in the second half this is spot on analysis, Chelsea did a job on Forest yesterday and grinded out the win. They did show maturity to see it through as well.
