Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Spurs. The Australian manager gave Spurs a rare trophy, winning the Europa League in late May; however, the club’s hierarchy have decided that a change of direction is required this summer.

In an update on Friday evening, it was confirmed that Ange would leave his role.

Spurs swooped to sign Ange after two successful years in Glasgow. Ange, who lost Harry Kane in his first transfer window, ended up finishing 5th in his debut campaign, impressing with the style of play. Injuries dictated results with the threadbare squad exposed. Despite this, Ange focused on the cups, taking Spurs to a League Cup Semi. Although, it was in the Europa League that Ange found a purple patch, taking Spurs to Bilbao where they beat Man Utd in the Final.

Ange was signed from Yokohama F Marinos, coming from relative obscurity to the Scottish game. The Australian endeared himself to the support before his team really found their feet, which came and helped Celtic to win back the Premiership and League Cup.

The following season, Ange’s team went from strength to strength, despite losing quality like Tom Rogic. Celtic secured the Treble, beating Rangers at Hampden in the League Cup Final and Scottish Cup Semi to set them up for a clean sweep.
