The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving real consideration to a move for Celta Vigo defender Óscar Mingueza.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Barcelona, it is widely understood, are on the lookout for reinforcements at full-back with a view to next season.
As much come at the direct request of head coach Hansi Flick, who is less than satisfied with the options at his disposal beyond first-choice pair Jules Koundé, and Alejandro Balde.
A long list of potential targets has in turn been drawn up, with one name considered an increasingly realistic option coming in the form of the aforementioned Óscar Mingueza.
Defender Mingueza has enjoyed a remarkable opening to the campaign on the books of Celta Vigo, with two goals and five assists to his name to date.
And such exploits have not gone at all unnoticed back at the 25-year-old’s former club.
Boasting a €10 million buy-back option as part of the deal which saw Mingueza depart the Camp Nou back in 2022, Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the versatile stopper’s situation, with a view to a possible bid next summer.
