Barcelona and Benfica are set to clash in a decisive battle for a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The match carries significant weight for both sides, but for Barcelona, it is an opportunity to prove their progress under new management.
Ahead of the encounter, Nolito, a former player who represented both clubs, shared his thoughts on the current state of the Blaugrana in an interview with El Larguero (h/t AS).
One of the key talking points has been the rise of Raphinha. The Brazilian winger has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent months. His ability to create chances, score goals, and contribute defensively has made him a crucial asset for the team.

“It has been a radical change. He was already a good player, but now he is the best player at Barcelona. He does everything well,” he began saying.
Nolito also said that Pedri delivered a masterclass in the first leg against Benfica, showcasing his exceptional vision, control, and composure in midfield.
In fact, he even considers both Pedri and Raphinha to be among the top five players currently.
“Pedri in the first leg gave a recital of how to play soccer. Ballon d’Or? Pedri and Raphinha are among the five best players.”
Another major factor in Barcelona’s first-leg performance was the presence of Wojciech Szczesny.
The goalkeeper played a vital role in keeping Benfica at bay, making crucial saves that ultimately shifted the course of the match.
“In Lisbon, he made two or three saves that changed the game. I’ve had teammates who smoked more than a wheelbarrow and then the match came and they did what they wanted.
“If they played like that, they should smoke a carton a day,” he added.

As for Hansi Flick, the German manager has brought a fresh tactical approach to Barcelona since taking over. His structured playing style and ability to maximise the potential of his squad have earned praise.
However, it is also clear that he inherited a foundation that was already in place from the previous management.
“He’s a good coach who is doing a great job. But he also found something ready-made from Xavi,” he added.
With the second leg approaching, Barcelona will be looking to capitalise on their momentum and secure a place in the next stage of the competition. The outcome of this match could define their European campaign this season.
