After a 0-0 draw against Juventus, AC Milan midfielder Youssouf Fofana has stated that he and his teammates still have optimism for the Scudetto.
Milan-Juventus is normally a blockbuster of a fixture for the calendar, but Saturday’s instalment was anything but that. The Rossoneri mustered just a singular shot on target, and it was hardly able to be defined as a proper chance.
Despite this, though, the evening could have been worse. As it stands, the mountain facing the Diavolo now stands at a nine-point gap to the league leaders. On another day, it could’ve been a 10-point difference, with a nine-point split between the two teams, for now though, it remains six points.
After the game, Fofana spoke to DAZN about the optimism still remaining around the Milan camp, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.
On too much respect for Juve and taking too few risks…
“If the coach said so, I agree. For me it was a chess match: if a player got on his own he could put us in trouble and we had to wait. Tonight was not a spectacular match, we couldn’t find the goal.
“Seasonal highs and lows? I can’t explain it because every match is different. We are optimistic that things will improve. We are working hard.”
On Milan’s ups and downs…
“There is no explanation. Matches come and every time we have to fix a new problem, defensively or offensively. We have to be more efficient when we have chances to score. But I don’t know why and I hope that in the near future we can win and keep on winning.”
His words echoed those of his coach who spoke slightly earlier, so the group are certainly still unified in their aims.
