Fiorentina are in the hunt for a new midfielder after losing Edoardo Bove and have earmarked Nemanja Matic and Michael Folorunsho. Napoli are after the former too. The latter could end up being part of a multi-player deal, Tuttomercatoweb informed.
His agent stated that he’d stay in January. It remains to be determined whether that will hold true. He has logged just 6 appearances for a total of 31 minutes so far. He’s penned a multi-year extension last summer.
Fiorentina and Napoli will battle it out for Matic, while they could discuss Folorunsho along with Cristiano Biraghi. The ousted captain would be a prominent target for the Azzurri if Leonardo Spinazzola departed.
The Viola had already chased the midfielder in the past but didn’t come to terms. He was on the brink of joining Atalanta, which then changed their mind. He had been dangled and frozen out for a while during the summer window, but the parties eventually reconciled, although he’s not regular.
The Gigliati had found a nice balance with Bove as a tactical winger and they should bring in somebody with a similar skillset and energy. They have enough ball handlers in the role. The sample size is minuscule, but using four attackers together hasn’t worked as well as their previous iteration. It’s a big need unless Raffaele Palladino manages to adapt somebody, for instance, Yacine Adli or Amir Richardson. Antonio Conte would still want a replacement, and the ex-Roma star fits them better. There might be the premises for the two sides to concoct something mutually beneficial.
