Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid last summer, is clearly the player who excites Alonso the most. “Since he was at Monaco, Mbappe has always given me something special,” said the Spanish F1 racer.

“When he gets the ball, I feel like anything can happen. He’s the player who calls to me the most,” he added.

Alonso’s comments show how deeply impressed he is by the energy and unpredictability Mbappe brings to the pitch, traits that have already made him a fan favourite at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The F1 star also spoke about Xabi Alonso’s recent appointment as Real Madrid manager. While the two share a surname, they are not related, but Fernando clearly holds the former midfielder in high regard.

“Xabi was a smart player, always full of tactical awareness,” said Alonso. “Now, as a coach, he combines that knowledge with a calm attitude and strong communication skills.

“That’s exactly what’s needed at a club like Real Madrid, where there’s pressure every three days.”

With the Club World Cup well underway and Madrid pushing for another trophy, Fernando Alonso’s support is yet another example of the bond between Spain’s sporting greats.

His praise for Mbappe, who is yet to play for Real Madrid at the ongoing tournament, and belief in Xabi Alonso only reflect the optimism many fans are feeling about Real Madrid’s current project.
