There’s a feeling among top Premier League clubs that Frankfurt may accept less than £84m for Hugo Ekitike according to Fabrizio Romano.

Chelsea are once again set for a busy summer and have already completed the signing of Liam Delap for £30m, with more new faces set to arrive at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are looking to sign a centre back, versatile forward and left winger to bolster Enzo Maresca’s ranks ahead of the new season.

Frankfurt could accept less than £84m for Ekitike

A striker was the main priority this summer and the Blues moved quickly to get Delap in, attention now turns to signing a versatile forward.

Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix are both set to leave the club, and Chelsea will need to bring a replacement in.

The Blues have been linked with the likes of Ekitike, Mohammed Kudus and Joao Pedro, but are yet to make an official move for any of those players.

Chelsea are thought to value Ekitike at around £67m, but Frankfurt are insisting on €100m for the 22-year-old, and Romano has now provided an interesting update on the situation.

“Eintracht Frankfurt asked Chelsea for £84m a few weeks ago for Hugo Ekitike,” he told his YouTube channel.

“However, there’s a feeling among top English clubs that Frankfurt may accept around £68m to £76m for him in the coming days or weeks.”

Ekitike scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions and is also attracting interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.

Joao Pedro under consideration

Whilst a move for Ekitike is only a possibility if the asking price drops, the Blues also have Brighton forward Pedro on their radar.

It’s been reported Chelsea highly rate Pedro, and the Brazil international scored ten Premier League goals for Brighton last season.

The 23-year-old can cover multiple positions in attack, and Brighton are thought to want around £60m for the Brazilian, with Newcastle also very interested.
