Fabrizio Romano has reported on X that Marcus Rashford is leaving Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United and is about to join Unai Emery’s Aston Villa.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Premier League rivals United and Villa have an agreement in place over the transfer of Rashford.

The £350,000-a-week (ESPN) England international forward will join Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Unai Emery’s side, who are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, will cover over 70% of Rashford’s salary.

Romano has claimed that Rashford, who was linked with Barcelona, will undergo a medical on Sunday, adding that Villa will have the option to make the loan deal permanent for £40 million in the summer of 2025.

Rashford is a big-name player, but United will not miss him. Head coach Amorim has not been using the forward for a while now, and the 27-year-old has been in poor form for months.

The England international has scored seven goals and given three assists in 24 matches in all competitions for United so far this season.

Rashford found the back of the net eight times in 43 appearances for the Red Devils last season. He provided five assists in those games.

At 27, Rashford should be at his peak now, but the forward has not progressed and will not be missed at Old Trafford from a sporting perspective.

United are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 29 points from 23 matches, while Villa currently find themselves eighth in the standings with 37 points from 24 games, four points behind fourth-placed and defending champions Manchester City, who have played 23 games.

The Red Devils will take on Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday, while Villa lost 2-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers away from home in the league on Saturday.
