Summer 2025 was always going to be a pivotal one for Manchester United in their bid to re-establish themselves among the Premier League’s elite.

After Erik ten Hag’s project collapsed early in the 2024–25 season, Ruben Amorim took over as United’s head coach.

While the Portuguese was expected to spark a turnaround, he simply could not.

Some of the players he inherited were not ideal for his system, and with a packed fixture list, it was difficult for him to impose his tactical instructions fully.

In the end, United were left to see out 2024–25 and begin a new chapter this summer.

Enter summer 2025

That fresh start this summer was all about backing Amorim with signings tailored to his system, while moving on those who did not fit.

It has also proven the perfect time for Amorim to instil his tactical demands, and so far, it is going well.

Against Premier League opposition (in the US tour), the Red Devils have looked sharper.

Yes, there is still room for improvement, but Amorim could be building something special.

Something special that could prosper further with new signings, and all signs point to INEOS being active on the transfer front.

Right now, the focus is on recruiting a striker, with Benjamin Sesko heavily linked.

But it is not just a striker swoop we should expect.

Fabrizio Romano confirms that, beyond the number nine signing, there are two more deals to look forward to.

Triple swoop incoming

This is shaping up to be a perfect summer for Amorim

Signing a top goalkeeper and an athletic midfielder alongside the striker could see INEOS assemble Amorim’s strongest United side yet.

These three deals, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, should leave United better equipped to climb the Premier League table after last season’s frustrating 15th-place finish.

Imagine, come deadline day, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sesko and a mobile midfielder like Hayden Hackney all signed, that would be scary. Scary indeed.
