Manchester City have successfully hijacked a move for one of Chelsea’s most highly-rated midfield talents, according to information provided by Fabrizio Romano.

The Premier League champions have had their eye on fresh recruits for Pep Guardiola’s midfield ranks for the duration of the summer transfer window’s opening weeks, as a number of high-profile names feature on their shortlist.

Manchester City have opted against signing Bruno Guimaraes via the player’s £100 million release clause at Newcastle United, which has since expired, but retain hope of doing a deal for the Brazilian international in the coming weeks.

Elsewhere, there is a belief that Bayern Munich and Germany’s Joshua Kimmich is highly-regarded at the Etihad Stadium, and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola would certainly not be opposed to a reunion with his former colleague in Germany.

However, despite the focus on immediate stars for the Manchester City first-team, work has continued elsewhere within the Etihad Stadium offices to pen deals for the next hopeful stars of the future.

That is according to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that Chelsea’s 16-year-old midfield talent Ryan McAidoo has left the Stamford Bridge club and is now set to join Manchester City.

With the ‘Here We Go’ provided by the Italian journalist, the teenager has decided to join the Premier League champions, who have successfully hijacked a deal for the player after proposals from other ‘top’ Premier League clubs.

Remaining on the subject of Manchester City Academy plans, there is a belief in various quarters that Etihad officials are currently working to get new contract agreed for 16-year-old attacking prospect Christian Dunbar-McDonald.

Such work coincides with youth exits from the City Football Academy, as it was revealed earlier this week that fellow 16-year-old forward David Chigwada had signed an agreement with Premier League side West Ham United after agreeing to an Etihad exit.
