Barcelona started the new year in an emphatic fashion as they secured a comfortable 4-0 win over Barbastro, in the Round of 32 of the Copa Del Rey.
There were multiple highlights from the convincing win, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a brace while two fringe players Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre also found the back of the net.
A surprising moment in the game, however, saw star midfielder Gavi stepping onto the pitch for the second half, wearing a prominent bandage on his right hand.
A recent report from Catalunya Radio has offered more light on Gavi wearing the bandage against Barbastro last evening.
Contrary to initial fears of a serious injury, the report clarifies that Gavi is not dealing with anything severe.
Instead, the bandage was a precautionary measure following an incident during training on December 31.
Frustrated with his performance in the session, the Andalusian midfielder reportedly let his emotions get the better of him, striking a wall with his hand as he entered the dressing room.

The impulsive action left him with a painful knock, but fortunately, no fractures or significant damage were sustained.
Given Gavi’s combative style and intense personality both on and off the field, this incident aligns with the traits that have made him a fan favourite.
Despite the mishap, Gavi was deemed fit enough to participate in the game, coming on as a substitute for Pedri in the second half.
Following the convincing win, Gavi will now shift his focus on Barcelona’s Spanish Super Cup journey next week, as they take on Athletic Club in the semifinals.
With Dani Olmo’s registration woes dragging on, coach Hansi Flick could bet on Gavi to provide the ‘X-factor’ in the final third next week.
