Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Cristian Romero’s fitness as they gear up for a crucial away match against Bournemouth this week.
The Argentine defender has been sidelined for five games since November due to ankle and toe injuries, leaving a noticeable gap in Spurs’ defensive setup.
With the team struggling in his absence, Romero’s potential return is highly anticipated as they look to bounce back and push for a better position in the Premier League.
Romero’s absence has undoubtedly been felt by Tottenham, especially in recent matches like the 1-1 draw against Fulham, where the defence lacked cohesion without his commanding presence.
Despite this, the team has managed to stay afloat, with Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin stepping in to fill the void.
However, there’s no question that Romero’s return would significantly strengthen Spurs’ backline.

According to sports injury specialist Dr. Rajpal Brar, Romero’s return to action hinges on how he responds to training in the next few days.
His ability to manage pain, regain movement, and feel confident on the pitch will be crucial factors in determining whether he can feature in the upcoming match against Bournemouth.
However, even if he is cleared to play, it’s unlikely he will be able to complete the full 90 minutes due to the length of his absence.
Manager Ange Postecoglou will have to tread carefully with Romero’s reintegration. The Argentine has been a vital presence for Spurs this season, contributing to 13 appearances across all competitions, including a goal in their 4-0 victory over Everton in August.
His leadership as vice-captain has been equally important in organizing the defence and providing stability at the back. Given how critical Romero is to the team, Postecoglou will want to ensure he’s fully fit before pushing him back into action.
Romero’s time at Tottenham started in 2021 when he joined on loan from Atalanta, and the move was made permanent the next year. Since then, he’s made a real impact, both with his performances on the pitch and his leadership off it.
With Tottenham looking to improve their position in the Premier League, having Romero back at full fitness will be key. His return would provide a much-needed boost to the defence and play an important role in achieving their ambitions for the season.
