Udinese and Slovenia defender Jaka Bijol believes Inter Milan can win the Serie A and hopefully also the Champions League.
Bijol spoke exclusively with The Italian Football Podcast and SempreInter.com where he tipped Inter Milan to win the Serie A again.
The Slovenia international defender has been linked with a January move to Inter Milan in recent months. Everton have also reportedly been keen on Bijol.
Udinese Technical Director Gianluca Nani recently stated that Inter Milan are interested in the player. Adding that Bijol could leave the Friuliani this coming January.
Furthermore, has been Francesco Acerbi injured for most of this season, Inter could be forced to make a move for Bijol.
When asked about who he thinks will win this season’s Serie A title, Bijol had no doubts.
“”I think Inter is still the strongest team. I think they showed again against Lazio that they are ready when the big games come.
“Who wins the Champions League? I hope it’s one of the Italian clubs. If I have to pick one I say Inter.”
Bijol was also asked about how it feels to be linked with a transfer to Inter Milan.
“For sure it’s a nice thing to hear. But in football we know that there are a lot of rumors going around so until there is something concrete there is not much to talk about.”
Bijol was asked to name the best striker in the Serie A. The Slovenia defender named Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez.
“This year I would say Osimhen but he went away. He would never let you breathe.
“In this moment, for sure, the strikers from the best teams that put you under pressure. Making it harder for you to control.
“Like Lautaro, he just finds the spaces that maybe you dont see him so much in the game but he always create something in the end.”
Finally, Bijol heaped praise on former Inter Milan captain Samir Handanovic. Bijol believes his compatriot is a model professional.
As such, Handanovic helped younger Slovenian players. Which included himself.
“For sure, he played so many years in Italy. Everyone speaks so highly of him.
“He was a great professional. He made a really good name for himself of course here in Udine and in Milano.
“One big personality and one big player who paved the way for us younger players that came later.”
Bijol signed for Udinese in the summer of 2022 from CSKA Moscow for a reported fee of €5 million.
Since then Bijol has featured 74 times across all competitions for Udinese, scoring five times in the process.
Bijol has represented Slovenia 59 times scoring just the solitary goal.
