Lee Hendrie has issued his thoughts on Derby County being linked with a move for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck.

Pundit Lee Hendrie has backed Derby County to make a move for Liverpool left-back Owen Beck, believing a loan move this summer for the 22-year-old would be a “super signing”.

After helping guide the Rams to Championship safety last year despite periods of uncertainty, John Eustace is in search of additions that can help push the club away from the Championship dropzone.

Eustace has previous pedigree of getting his teams to compete in and around the play-off places, achieving this with Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers before his departure from those two outfits.

Now he’ll be aiming to replicate it at Pride Park, with Derby seemingly prioritising bolstering their back line.

While they suffered disappointment in seeing Nat Phillips join West Brom on a permanent deal, Liverpool left-back Owen Beck has been linked with a loan switch to the Midlands as per Football Insider, working with Eustace last term at Ewood Park.

With this latest transfer rumour in mind, Lee Hendrie has issued his thoughts over whether Derby should attempt to get a deal over the line during the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Lee Hendrie believes Owen Beck would be a “super signing” for Derby County, believing his previous connection with John Eustace will only see the Liverpool man thrive.

Hendrie said: “When you start bringing in that calibre of player, and Owen Beck is a very good player, from the likes of top clubs in Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, knowing that they can go in and play, then I think it would be a super signing.

“It’s always good when you have that connection with someone and that’s what Eustace has had.

"He knows the player that he’s bringing in, he knows what he’s expecting, and I think Derby fans will be over the moon if that deal gets done.”

Derby County are very lucky to have a manager who can consistently work wonders at football clubs, and that’s exactly what John Eustace is doing with the Rams.

There’s no doubt that he will end up pushing the club towards the upper ends of the second tier table at some stage, and a signing like Owen Beck could go a long way to achieving that.

Beck was an established first-team regular under Eustace at Blackburn, helping the Lancashire-based club punch well above their weight to be in the play-off mix.

The Wrexham-born defender then endured a miserable time after Eustace departed, seeing very limited game time, and a move to Derby will be very appealing to continue where he left off and go from strength to strength in the early stages of his playing days.

It seems like a no-brainer of a decision for Beck to make in order to build on his experience in the Championship, while the youngster could break through as one of the next second tier superstars under Eustace’s guidance after a promising first spell together.
