Exclusive says Chelsea have 2 tough conditions to loan out powerful player to Premier League rivals

Chelsea’s progress in terms of buying players has been excellent this summer, and the Blues are making headway on some sales too.

As ever with this model of buying low and selling high, however, a crucial element is going to be the development loans for young players who will otherwise see their value diminishing as they sit on our bench.

In that regard, it’s a huge year for Marc Guiu. After an exceptional breakthrough at Barcelona, his move to Chelsea last summer took a wrong turn when he picked up an injury at the turn of the year, just as he was set to start picking up more minutes for the Blues.

That’s set back his development as well as his standing in the squad, and he now has 3 established full time strikers ahead of him in the pecking order. It’s been clear for some time that this would be a loan year, and the question is now just where he goes.

3 teams already pushing hard for Guiu under Chelsea’s conditions

Marc Guiu celebrates his first Chelsea goal.

According to an exclusive from CaughtOffside today, there are a number of teams interested:

“Chelsea have decided to send [Guiu] out on loan to accelerate his development, but remains firm on the terms: no purchase option and full salary coverage by the receiving club.”

Clearly they feel there’s enough demand for the Catalan to be able to lay down those conditions.

Sunderland, who have spent big this summer already after their promotion, are said to be one of the interested sides, as are Leeds and RB Leipzig.

Loaning teams need to feel Guiu can make instant impact

Taking a player on loan with no buy option is not worthwhile for a club unless that player is going to really positively impact your side’s performance. Otherwise you’re just developing someone else’s prospect. On that basis, the Leipzig loan feels less likely, but both Sunderland and Leeds might think that a big physical player could get some goals for them and help them stay up.
